Spring Gallery Show Recap

I want to thank everyone for coming out to our event and making it a great success! We celebrated the completion of our first class and the inspirational work of our incredible students. We had over 85 guests come out to our show, spending an evening talking with our students and friends, while enjoying their fantastic work. We raffled off some great prizes, raised some funds, and had a great time. Here are some photos from the event, and some information about us!

Moments was founded in May 2012 and we received our 501 c3 determination in September of 2012. We quickly worked with our generous donors and were able to find a photography teacher and classroom space for our first course, which started in February 2013 and ended in late June. Selecting our students was a challenge: we had over fifty students apply, however, because of limitations, we could only accept eight. With two students unable to commit to the rigorous schedule we were left with a dedicated group of six students. As a group we explored the camera, composition, and the thought process behind making a great photo. What really makes this all worth while is seeing the progressive elevation in ability and confidence in each individual student!

Without support from people like you, we would be unable to carry out our mission: “Free photography education for all”. Our mission is not just a saying, it’s what we live by. We aim to upset the balance and break down the pay walls of art. You don’t need to pay an arm and a leg to make yourself a better artist. What makes Moments special is that we provide classes to anyone who is willing to put in the effort required to better themselves, all free-of-charge. As the students build confidence and realize that they can achieve anything once they put their minds to it, it makes you believe we can really make a difference. We need your help to make moments more than just a class, we want to be a cultural center for aspiring artists to learn about photography and what it takes to make a great photograph. Every dollar goes a long way to providing exciting curricula, field trips, and events. Please take the time to check out our students work and see if you would like a print for yourself.

Hope to see you at our upcoming gallery show this winter!
