I chose to examine the contrast between public and private spaces of young people in New York City working in the service industry. Often working very long hours in lavish public spaces, I wanted to examine the dichotomy between how my subjects occupied these public spaces in contrast with their own private spaces. This series examine how we fit in our social environment and make a place our own. In doing so, I tried to capture how these subjects fit within their competing spaces by taking portraits of them in their workspace and their room at home.
