Identity Moments – Alma Hidalgo

I wanted to explore how New Yorkers perception of identity has been transformed over the years or has remained the same. This project was primarily inspired by Martin Schoeller Photography project “The Changing Face of America” which basically hoped to highlight the idea that the U.S. is no longer a black and white society. Therefore, I attempted to further explore this issue, at a more local level, by photographing individuals with multi-ethnic backgrounds and race, and listening to their individual stories regarding their perception of identity and its complexities.
