Ferry Moments – Angela Benoit

I am very fond of the East River Ferry and decided to shoot from its top deck, between DUMBO and 34th Street. Finding a voice for my project, however, did not come easily. Should I document the new developments along the Brooklyn shore? Should the images be continuous? After a few dozen rides, a message started appearing through the hundreds of frames I had taken: the East River Ferry is fun and lets us see Manhattan and Brooklyn from never-seen-before angles. It’s a thrilling ride with unusual views of familiar things.
