When traveling, I tend to take a lot of photos looking up at buildings and monuments. I started this project thinking that I could look up at New York landmarks and portray them in a different way — that I could distort them into something new. While walking around the city shooting pictures of the classics, I did notice that more often, my eye turned to the modern structures.
The shift away from New York City landmarks revealed a new view of the city, one where the modern buildings took on an almost computer-generated character. This set distorts the way in which we view the buildings. For just a moment, each photograph looks fake, like it could be yet another computer-rendered version of New York.
