Field Trip: International Center of Photography Triennial
For this week’s class, we went on a field trip to the International Center of Photography to see A Different Kind of Order: The ICP Triennial. The triennial features a selection of contemporary works from artists around the world. Many of the pieces, like Mishka Henner’s concealed Google Map images, Andrea Longacre-White’s iPad scans and Thomas Hirschhorn’s gruesome war photo slideshow involved new and mixed media, beckoning us to question how we define photography.
If you have a chance to visit the ICP and see the triennial, post your reaction on our Facebook to join the discussion. The homework assignment this week is to choose one work of art that interested you and discuss what you enjoyed about it the most – use specific visual cues about why it drew you in. Email your homework to participate@ourmoments.org.
